In this collection, seashells have been my inspiration. I found them on my trip to South Africa, and immediately fell in love with all the colours and the pearly surface on the inside. When I returned home, I started looking for a way to process them analogously, and I realized that the outside is at least as beautiful as the inside, so I used both sides of the shell.
The inside of the shell has a beautiful marbling looking pattern, and I used marbling as a technique, to create my own liquid colour combination.
The outside has an amazing texture, which I made a cast of. I draw the new lines and shapes to create elements for my patterns I later worked in Photoshop to fit both print and knit.
My collection contains a balance between connection and dynamics. The individual styles can be used together as well as individually, which has been important to me, as the product must take part of already existing homes.
